Tale of a Toad is a story that speaks to, uhh, many of us. I wrote it a while back as a final project for an audio production class. I distinctly remember reviewing our projects as a group, and thinking as we listened to mine, "This is hilarious."
I laughed and laughed all the way through the dramatic and intense storyline and nodded approvingly at the intricately-produced soundscapes. Everybody else, including my future brother-in-law, studiously avoided eye contact. The murmers I heard throughout were not ones of respect at the craftsmanship. The chuckles I heard throughout were not ones of appreciation at the droll wit. The fidgeting I felt throughout were not indications that my audience was immersed in the world of Toad.
But I laughed, very hard. And frequently. The primitive mixing and archetypal characters exist in a unique universe that are a mix of Star Wars dystopia, Millerian dogma, and Tolkien world creation, albeit with the cheerful addition of fist-banging allegorics. Minor technical flaws and drowned out vocals complement the raw, powerful narrative.
|this, of course, is an attempt to explain inherent and obvious flaws in a student production|
So the final laugh is on them. I have made a LOT of money off this...wait - actually, no I haven't made any money off this. Largely due to the completely unlicensed usage of copyrighted music. Including yours, Lars. Sorry.
