I think a lot about history. About what gets remembered. About how memories are structured. I love to look for patterns and structure in life. When you string a series of trivial, mundane activities together over time and begin to look at the patterns that emerge, we start to see beautiful, unique portraits that are both epic and intimate.

Ron Stout is an artist who spent his career between the West Coast in the U.S. and the isles of Greece and Italy.

He has led a colourful life filled with art, style, and many treasures. We have been conversing and documenting his musings and art for the last five years.
On This Day is an ongoing series to commemorate different points of history. It is a reflection of our interest in history, anthropology, pop culture, and family identity that has led to this: a place to view a history of the world, with the Very Long Media Empire as the hub, going back to the mid-20th century.

It is exactly what it sounds like. Video portraits of different people, taken over time, that are precisely twenty-two seconds long.
